2013 is just starting…

…and it’s already banging into the end of January! How did this happen? Never mind, for those of you still with a job to go to, welcome to the working week. For the rest of you, Welcome! May 2013 be a rich cornucopia of wonderful surprises, and may you be able to see the wonderful in ALL surprises, as well as in the every day events.

Now that all is out of the way, the Big News here is that we have commenced recording the NEW!! Wellington Heads (as yet un-named) album. So far it’s sounding great – but I would say that wouldn’t I. Recorded at the historical Marmalade Studios in central Wellington, and lovingly captured by Mr Andrew Downes, ably assisted by the vintage Marmalade Studios microphone cupboard. It’s fun looking at all those wonderful mics, and thinking I Am Gonna Sound SO. BITCHIN’ through that mic! However as we all know, it’s actually about the performance. So far it all has translated excellently to tape (er, although in this case, that might just be zeroes & ones, but hey).

Some nice gigs coming up – check the “Upcoming” tab on the website. More will be added. Oh yes they will.

See you at one or more of those!

Wonderful Wellington Heads Winter Warmer

And no, it’s not Neil’s Secret Recipe for one of his great dark winter brews…sorry about that. Although you could always ask him – worth a crack Nigel.

Nope. What we are talking about here is the Real. Deal. A great gig lined up at Meow in Edward St, on August 31st. It will have a cast of thousands, as we ramble through our (by now fairly extensive) back catalogue, playing our personal favourite songs. Which means that some that haven’t seen the light of day (light of club?) for a while will get a fresh airing. Bound to have been some changes though, so it might be “good ol’ songs, Jim, but not as we know them”.

And if that isn’t enough we have a whole SWAG of new songs to play that you probably haven’t ever heard before! Performance of these will include the spectacle of Neil playing an ironing board in addition to the other approximately 20 different instruments he will be playing. He’s a busy boy. Luckily he finds time to sing as well. Otherwise it’s “move over Cliff, here come the Shadows”. If ya know what I mean.

See you at Meow. Fo’ sho’!
